The Best: Golden Globes 2012

The best part about awards season is judging the dress choices (and seeing how quickly ABS can put out close knockoffs into their stores...)  So here are my thoughts:

To be honest, I wasn't blown away by anyone but Charlize Theron and Sophia Vegara , mainly because they both looked so, absolutely stunning, they were on their own level.  The shape of Sophia's Vera Wang dress was extremely flattering and the color was a great choice.  I loved the mermaid shape and the intricate detail of the bottom of the dress.  Charlize's Christian Dior Couture dress was just incredible.  Loved the pastel color (so in right now), the deep cut on the front, the giant bow, the diamond details and the perfectly fitting headband and messy beach hair.  She looked so at ease in the dress and therefore she wore it so well.  I also loved Claire Danes dress by J Mendel, mainly because the choice was quite different than the other leading ladies.  The backless cut and detailing on the dress really set her apart from everyone else on the red carpet.

Others that caught my eye: Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli (honestly she could look phenomenal in a paper bag), Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen (such a great color, and the detail of the dress was flawless) and Nicole Richie in a Julian Macdonald gown and House of Harlow accesories.  She is one of my favorite "fashion people" to watch and she didn't dissappoint in this very different option.

What did you guys think?  Who was your favorite?  And is it weird that I didn't like Angelina Jolie's dress?

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Totally agree with your best dressed list — Charlize Theron topped mine as well. She had the look that blew everyone else out of the water.

I’m also always a fan of Kate Beckinsale…she has such a great body and such a great look that I feel like I’m never disappointed by her choices.

You also read my mind on Angelina Jolie – I was totally underwhelmed by the choice. It may have been the color for me…I wasn’t a fan of the light color and felt the red touches made it worse. I wish we’d seen something like she wore last year — I also honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman look better in emerald…its such a great color on her!
